My Journey as a Business Major

When I first started at the University of North Texas, I knew I wanted to build a future in business — but I didn’t yet know exactly where that path would lead. Looking back now after earning my Bachelor of Science in General Business, I can confidently say that my time at UNT helped shape the way I think about leadership, strategy, marketing, technology, and entrepreneurship.

What I appreciated most about UNT was how practical the learning experience became over time. Early on, I built a strong foundation in accounting, finance, economics, statistics, and business systems. Those courses taught me how businesses operate from both a financial and operational perspective, and they gave me the analytical skills needed to make informed decisions.

As I progressed into more advanced coursework, I became especially interested in areas like business ethics, organizational behavior, consumer psychology, operations management, digital marketing, and leadership development. Courses focused on negotiation, workplace conflict, international management, consumer behavior, and strategic social media helped me understand not only how businesses function internally, but also how companies connect with people externally.

One of the biggest takeaways from my undergraduate experience was learning that successful businesses are built on more than just products or profits. Strong leadership, ethical decision-making, communication, adaptability, and understanding customer behavior all play a major role in long-term success. Those lessons have influenced the way I approach projects, business ideas, and even day-to-day problem solving.

During my time at UNT, I also had opportunities to apply what I learned outside of the classroom. Through projects, internships, and independent work, I explored interests in digital marketing, business strategy, technology, and entrepreneurship. I became increasingly interested in how businesses can use technology, analytics, and branding to improve operations and create stronger customer experiences.

After completing my bachelor’s degree, I decided to continue my education at UNT and pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Strategic Management. For me, this next step is about building deeper leadership and strategic decision-making skills while continuing to grow my understanding of modern business challenges.

I’m especially interested in areas like:

  • Business strategy
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Marketing and branding
  • Technology-driven business solutions
  • Operations and systems improvement
  • Leadership and organizational growth

As I move through graduate school, I’m excited to continue learning, gaining experience, and working toward long-term goals in business and technology.

My journey at UNT has been incredibly valuable so far, and I’m grateful for the knowledge, experiences, and opportunities that have helped shape both my professional goals and personal growth. The transition from undergraduate student to MBA candidate feels like the beginning of an even bigger chapter, and I’m looking forward to where it leads next.
